Exploring the surrounding area
You may want to simply relax at Torna de los Ramos, but if you wish to venture further afield, here’s a few suggestions:
Visit Frigiliana, a few Kms up the road, a beautiful mountainside whitewashed village with a Moorish Quarter; stunning views across the Sierra with great bars and restaurants. Follow the historic plaques around the village telling of the Battle of Frigiliana in 1569.
Named by King Alfonso XII visit the Balcon de Europa in coastal Nerja which has stunning views across the Mediterranean. Catch the 7.30pm bus down in the evening for a great evening out in one of Nerja’s many lively bars (some with Flamenco) and restaurants.
Enjoy the ‘best paella on the coast’ at Ayo’s restaurant on the Burriana Beach. Our father helped Ayo build his restaurant over 50 years ago and we still love the buzzy atmosphere of this beautiful beach with sunbeds, shops and a variety of water sports.
Discover ‘El Canuelo’ wilder beach where part of the fun is parking at the top and getting the municipal bus down the winding beach road to access this gorgeous cove with a great restaurant (book ahead for Chringuito Las Piedras). Take your snorkelling gear!
Sierra de Tejeda - a walkers paradise! Whether your walk takes you up El Fuerte (the mountain above Frigiliana); down the river gorge to Nerja or to the deserted village Acebuchal, the views and wildlife will be breathtaking.
The magnificent Alhambra Palace and the ski resort of Sol y Nieve both in Granada are just 45 minutes away. In the Spring, enjoy the snow and the slopes for the day and then stop off at the beach to watch the sunset on your way back to Torna! We have loved doing this!
We highly recommend chartering a boat during your stay either at Marina del Este or Playazo beach. exploring the coastline from the sea is wonderful and your trip will usually include complimentary food, drinks and the use of paddle boards and snorkelling equipment.
